Day Seven - St Ives

A 30 minute car journey to Camborne where we left the car to take a train ride to St Ives (via St Erth). First view of one of the beaches after we got off the train Waited quite a while to get this shot. View across the harbour. Along the pier. Latest spectator sport, sea watching. Season tickets available. Quite a stormy sea Loved this house so I asked the people in the garden if I could take a photo. The guy was happy to stay but his wife ran indoors :) Beach was popular with the families. Some people were even swimming! View to the other side of the bay from the top. Was so windy up here, Geoff took his glasses off to prevent them being blown away. Never dare a fool! I said to Geoff I'd love a photo through the window of the cottage showing the view at the other side! Day One - En route to Glastonbury

After an early start we stopped in Monmouth to grab our picnic and headed down the Wye Valley towards Tintern Abbey. We stopped just before at Brockweir and sat on a seat overlooking the river while eating our salads. Glastonbury next with a detour via Cheddar Gorge. Parked the car and decided to head up Jacob's ladder, 274 steps to the top of the cliffs followed by a walk along the top. Fantastic views over Cheddar, Cheddar reservoir and Glastonbury Tor.

Day Three - Pendennis Castle

The morning sunrise from the lounge window. Shame the house to the right is in the way :( Went for a long and hilly walk to Pendennis Castle. Falmouth is still quite a commercial port given the size of some of the vessels in dock! Views from Pendennis head across the harbour were spectacular even with the poor weather. Zoom in and you can see the girl practising her Tai Chi by the sea. A visit to the castle itself. Geoff climbed to the topmost point to get a view back to the building built for the defence of the country at the early part of the 20th Century. Castle was a key post in Henry VIII times, during Napoleonic war and first and second world wars. Walk back along the sea front, Shame about the weather. An incredible succulent bush growing right next to the sea. Visibility was severely impaired by the weather too :) Went to The Chinz Symposium pub on the evening.
